Think! 5: Yoga = Haram?

Ramai yang lebih suka mengambil jalan mudah dengan mengatakan it's better to be safe than sorry.

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

Think! 4: Oil Price

In June 2008, crude oil price went as high as $140 per barrel. Now, in just 5 months, the oil price continues to go down. Crude oil now priced at somewhere around $63-$68 per barrel. Since then, the Malaysian government has reduced the petrol price quite a number of times. Even I can't remember how many times they have reduced the petrol price.

When the oil price went up, nobody thought that it will ever go down. Many thought that increasing the petrol price in stages would be a better idea compared to a one time huge price increase. Unfortunately, the government chose the latter one. Now, oil price has gone down. Consumer goods are still as high as when the oil price went up. If you ask me, all this would not have happened if the petrol price were increased in stages. There might not be a need to decrease the petrol price from time to time. And there won't even be a need to decrease the price of goods.

Now the weird thing is, when oil price went up, petrol price in Malaysia went up almost immediately. However, when oil price is going down, the government reduced the price of petrol for a few times until it reaches the current price, RM2.15 per liter. The reason? The government wants to lessen the losses of any petrol station owners that occurs due to the price reduction. Instead of burdening the petrol station owners with a one-time big price slash, they chose to slightly, but continuously burden the owners with a few price reductions. Oh well... Decrease in profits or losses are very normal in business. Since it's very normal, the owners have no choice but to forcefully accept it.

Now for some simple mathematical calculations:
A barrel of crude oil now priced somewhere at $68. The USD/RM exchange rate is around 3.5509. A barrel of oil holds approximately 158.9873 liters of oil.

A barrel of crude oil in RM is $68 x 3.5509 = RM241.4612. Therefore, price of crude oil in liter would be, RM237.9103/158.9873 liters = RM1.5187.

OK. I'm not saying that the price of petrol in Malaysia should be RM1.52 now. There are still a number of reasons that could affect the price of petrol in Malaysia such as the quality of the crude oil or the petrol yield percentage. However, I do think that my calculations should roughly reflect that the fuel price in Malaysia could still be slightly lower. We should also take into account that the government is still giving us the 30sen per liter fuel subsidy.

Then again, I'm just a lowly citizen of my beloved country. There is no way what I've written here would at least have a little effect on the fuel price in Malaysia. All I can do is babbling about what i think in a blog that could be lost anywhere in the cyberspace.

The End.

Think! 3: Happy Deepavali

Happy Deepavali to all Hindus who are reading this. Of course that is if, there's anyone reading this post. Deepavali has come again and this means more Hindi or Tamil movies playing in the TV right now. And I too, having so much time, got the opportunity to watch some of the movies. I've got to say, Tamil movies are quite interesting actually.

One thing I noticed about Tamil movies nowadays that is they're starting to have better looking lead actors. The good guys are now fitter than before. Even the background dancers are better looking now.

There are a few common thing about Tamil movies that i noticed. Like most of us already know,a very small percentage of Indians borned in India have the ability to defy the law of physics. No, I'm not talking about some old fella who can levitate himself by meditating kind of defying physics. I'm talking about people who can beat the crap out of bad guys like they are some small animals kind of defying physics. Yeah, these guys are the true masters. One punch to your face, and the next thing you know you woke up on top of a bus.

The bad guys are never a match for the good guys in Tamil movies. Because they simply aren't borned with the gravity-defying ability. I think that the Tamil movie producers should make a new Tamil movie which have, at least, one of the bad guys has the super human ability. Then only there will be a good fight.

Another thing that I noticed is, almost all of the bad guys have this one of a kind 'annoying and irritating' faces. When you watch the bad guys, it just makes you feel wanna beat the hell out of them.

Oh the other day i watched this new movie Dasavatharam. In the movie, Kamal Haasan even went as far as acting as the current US president. Yup, that's right. Kamal acted as George W. Bush. Not even in a thousand years I could have imagine of having an Indian to act as George W. Bush.

Bravo.

Think! 2: The early bird gets the worm

The early bird gets the worm. The statement that people usually say when they want you to rush for something. "Go for it early or else you won't have the chance get it anymore". I always think that the statement is somewhat misleading. Like a scam or something.

Well, it may be true that the early bird gets the worm. But, has anyone ever thought that the early worm gets eaten by the early bird? So in certain conditions, it would be good to assess our condition first. Are we the birds or are we the worms?

Sometimes... well usually most of the time, we are actually the worms. You can be certain that when you see this statement while you are shopping, you are definitely the 'worms'. That must be why there are people who can be scammed by some i think the most ridiculous of the ridiculous scams ever existed.

Ever heard of the AF scams? Ever heard of the "Scratch-oh-you have-won-a-bloody-car-N-win" contest? The scams can be so stupid that it makes people who got ripped off by the scams look stupid to others. Kesian..kesian..

Think! 1: Re-entering blogosphere

It has been awhile since i stopped blogging. As of today, I am announcing to myself that I will start blogging back since I have so much time to kill in a day.

When i say i have so much time, I really mean having lots and lots of time that I can't be using them to do something else other than sitting in front of a PC in my office. Well... that is the downside of working. I dont have much work to do but I can't really go anywhere except being in front of the PC. I have so much time that if time were really gold, I would definately be richer than Bill Gates himself.

This blog will be my main channel of expressing my very own random thoughts, what I usually think of something from time to time (Ahh.. the freedom of expression in the cyberspace. Censorship is always bad). That is exactly why i name the blog Think!. Anyway it's not like i can really think of a better name. Alaa..bukan penting sangat pun. Blog je..
